Intro - Neighbors

Who are you in the Story of the Good Samaritan?

The Contrast between Law and Grace. 

A.  The Law  Perspective - a story of “Who is My Neighbor?”

This story is about the 2nd Great Commandment!

Story of John Rogers.  

B.  The Grace perspective - The Man half-dead

Luke 10:30 - Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead.

The Good Samaritan - Jesus

1.  He sees me - 33 But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him,  

2.  He has compassion - he had compassion.

splanchnizomai - to feel compassion, to be moved in the inward parts - to action.    Sympathy -> Empathy -> Compassion.

This is the mark of the Good Samaritan Clinic at 

Trinity Church on Edisto Island.   “Smile Fund.”

3.  He is with us - 34 He went to him

This is the incarnation. 

Story of Mother in the hospital with broken hip. 

4.  He brings Redemption/Healing  - and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine.

Redemption and Healing and Resurrection is what Jesus does!   This is His business!

The Gospel is the Good News of the Cross and Resurrection of Jesus Christ by which we become the Righteousness of God.

I Peter 2:24 - He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.

5.  He brings us into Communion with His Church - Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him.
